Connecting phone to computer

Have moto slvr L7c I was told that If you pull the battery and then press and hold the * and the # keys while inserting the battery it brings up a boot like menu made for usb connection. Got this menu to come up once, but couldn't find my cable so I hit the end key. Can't get back into this menu, any suggestions. I have Tried several times:confused:
 
my service provider is US. Cellular

I already have moto tools program. I was trying to get to the USB menu because I have a UID program and I want it to see my phone. As of now even though moto program sees my phone, it doesn't. In other words I am trying to mod my phone by updating the flex version and such. Plus install itunes.
