Connecting to internet after reformatting

Recently I reformatted a Dell Latitude D630 14.1" Laptop (Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0Ghz, 80GB Hard Drive, 2048Mb RAM, DVD/CDRW Drive, XP Home). It is a refurbished laptop purchased from Amazon. It worked normally for over a year before I reformatted it.

I followed the instructions given in the Dell manual here:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd630/en/UG/ug.pdf

Specifically the section
Reinstalling Software

sub-section
Restoring Your Operating System

sub-sub-section
Using the Operating System Media

I don`t know how to finish. Windows seems to work all right but I can`t connect to the internet. I have TWC.

The Ethernet cable I used works fine with another laptop. Before I started reformatting it worked in the Dell Latitude itself.

Thank you for your help.

Most likely all you need to do is install all the required drivers needed for the hardware. Look in device manager for yellow question marks next to entries and those would be the drivers still needing to be installed.

Look under NETWORK ADAPTERS section in the Device Manager to see if you have drivers installed for your network hardware. It looks like this (look of course varies on Windows OS which you are using):

I reinstalled windows a second time looking for a chance to install drivers. I saw none. Checking device manager I found multiple yellow question marks but as yet can`t deal with them. The NETWORK ADAPTERS section has only one entry namely the "1394 NET ADAPTER". I understand this is not for an Ethernet Cable. I still cannot link to the internet.
