Connecting to wireless

We have a netgear wireless modem.The problem is we get in on wireless.I have had to buy wires from the computers to the netgear modem.This is the only way it will work Is it true someone can takeover your computer and correct this for you?

anyway, you need to make sure that your router is sending a wireless signal. you have to access it by entering the ip address in your browser and while connected to the router preferably by wires as you mentioned. just go in and turn it on. if it's on and has a key then either use it or change it
