conputer wont boot up?

hi my conputer wont boot up i just got it specs below there is no floppy drive in conputer but menmory card slots instead?one of the hard drives is connected two the same cable as the cd rom/rewriter like its set as a boot device ?all i get when i turn on the conputer is ide scan and either boot disk error or boot mgr? can anyone help with this any ideas?many thanks

We need more info than that. Do you know if it has ever booted up properly? Is windows installed on it already? What is it actually doing when you turn it on?

What is the exact error message that you are receiving? It sounds to me like you don't have an OS installed on the HDD - or am I mistaken?
 
I must have missed that part. It sounds like you need to make sure the jumpers on the hard drive and cdrom drive are set correctly. Set the hard drive to master and cdrom to slave, actually they should be on separate cables. According to your specs, you have 2 Ide channels so you can separate the hard drive and cdrom drive.

hey yh it has worked before as i seen conputer work before and i no it has xp installed on the hard drive and the error message SAYS BOOT DISK ERROR or if i boot up again it will say boot mgr missing? ive tried installing a fresh copy of win 7 pro but it seems two take ages two load up windows picks up the hard drives an i when i try two install it says windows cannot be installed on this disk?
 
Bad hard drive possibly. Need to run a diagnostic on it by download the hard drive makers disk diagnostic utility.
