Conroe?

Well, it's only business-like to do that. When something new hits the shops, they want to milk it for all its worth. Give it a month, and the price will go down to what it should be selling at.

:)

go for the lowest grade conroe... that won't lower as much. that is, if you want to do some minor overclocking to it, which is why i'm going to wait to see which chips they sell are generally going to be the highest quality overclockers.
i bought my X2 3800+ probably not long after they came out... probably 3 months after... for $325. what do they sell for now like $297? my point exactly... lowest grade X2 didn't lower in price much. if you can overclock it'll save you a lot of money. the only thing that will really lower price is a competitive chip outperforming it at much lower prices, which is why the X2 3800+ will probably be half the price it is right now very soon.

the rest is just babbling if you want to read on haha.
not to mention, i overclocked mine to X2 5000+ speeds. to tell you the truth though i normally run it under X2 4600+ speeds, but its stable at a good temp at 2.6ghz... i mostly use those settings for LAN parties and such.
but yea, i'd wait awhile to buy conroe for the price to go down... then again you could just be lowering the amount of time that you get to have the best of the best, which is another reason why they have it at higher prices initially... some people want to have the best of the best for the longest time possible (which many overclockers still hold with FX-55's and such, at like 3.7ghz which is insane... -100C!!!.. then again hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars on a cooling system better get you results like that...)

Well I cant buy til August maybe September. So hopefully the price drops by then.

Unless AMD introduces a better or equal processor, I would not count on a significant price drop.

I think he means drop to what Intel is saying that they charge for their CPU's.

Since once they come out, Intel said that the E6600 would be $316, but most likely Newegg will charge more then that, say $399. So in a few months Newegg should drop to the MSRP or close to it. The same happened when AM2 came out.

Another question on Conroe. Does anyone know of any good places that have ran some gaming benchmarks on the E6600? I have seen some on it. Like on this 1 site the benchmarks says that is better for gaming then on another site say it is really bad for gaming.

yeah, they will release a processor that no-one has mentioned only any roadmaps, and it will be for sale in 2 months. Yeah right

its the 23rd at about noon... when will newegg be selling them?
Remember, it took Newegg almost a week to come out with their AM2 CPU's. And at first they only had a few AM2 Semprons to start. So if you really want to buy a Conroe, you may want to look elsewhere, unless you dont mind waiting a week or so.
