go for the lowest grade conroe... that won't lower as much. that is, if you want to do some minor overclocking to it, which is why i'm going to wait to see which chips they sell are generally going to be the highest quality overclockers.
i bought my X2 3800+ probably not long after they came out... probably 3 months after... for $325. what do they sell for now like $297? my point exactly... lowest grade X2 didn't lower in price much. if you can overclock it'll save you a lot of money. the only thing that will really lower price is a competitive chip outperforming it at much lower prices, which is why the X2 3800+ will probably be half the price it is right now very soon.
the rest is just babbling if you want to read on haha.
not to mention, i overclocked mine to X2 5000+ speeds. to tell you the truth though i normally run it under X2 4600+ speeds, but its stable at a good temp at 2.6ghz... i mostly use those settings for LAN parties and such.
but yea, i'd wait awhile to buy conroe for the price to go down... then again you could just be lowering the amount of time that you get to have the best of the best, which is another reason why they have it at higher prices initially... some people want to have the best of the best for the longest time possible (which many overclockers still hold with FX-55's and such, at like 3.7ghz which is insane... -100C!!!.. then again hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars on a cooling system better get you results like that...)
