Considering an Upgrade

Hey, thanks for taking a look,

Been a while since I have done anything with my PC and getting about $500 in as part of a gift and decided my PC could do with some love. I currently use the PC for gaming. Looking to upgrade it with some lee way to future proofing for a while.

My specs are below and from my understanding my weakest point is my graphics card or PSU. Though my knowledge on processors is lacking I am not sure how good or bad my process actually is.

So what do you believe is the next logical step for my PC progression and recommendations on parts that are within budgeet, Id rather buy one component and have it last longer than buy two or three and find myself replacing them within a year. The budget is flexible give or take $75 but only if the upgrade can really be justified, like on the cusp of being last gen/this gen.

Thanks

Spec (getting these from Diagnostic tool/opening and read the labels on the inside)
PSU: Standard ATX 500W
CPU: AMD Fx(tm) - 4170 Quad-Core Processor (4 CPUs 4.2Ghz)
Motherboard: GA-78LMT-USB3
GPU: HD 6670 800M 2GB DDR3 ( I believe some 3rd party produced version)
Ram: Corsair Memory — 8GB DDR3 Memory Kit (CMV8GX3M1A1333C9)
Dominator® — 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 Memory Kit (TW3X4G1600C9D)
Harddrive: Crucial M4 SSD 2.5 128GB 6GB/S
1TB Standard Harddrive
Case: CiT Vantage Midi Atx Pc Gaming Tower

AMD FX 8320 (the CPU in yours is weak and would bottleneck the R9 280): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113285&cm_re=fx_8320-_-19-113-285-_-Product

R9 280: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150706&cm_re=r9_280-_-14-150-706-_-Product

CX 600 (it only has 100 more watts, but is almost for sure much higher quality): http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139028&cm_re=cx_600-_-17-139-028-_-Product

BTW, your case is crap. It might be a good idea to get a new one, as installing a R9 280 will be a PITA with thay CiT.

This will allow you to play any PC game with at least medium settings.

What's the brand of your PSU?

I couldn't even tell the branding, it is very generic but definitely what I was considering improving. So basically apart from my Ram and Hard drive I should get new everything? Maybe worth saving up some more money if I shall be upgrading most the PC?

If its a Cit case then most likely the psu came with the case and its crap also, probably only putting out 325 watts at the most. So definately change it to something better.
