constant freezing problem cod4

Hey guys,

I am having constant freezing problems in call of duty 4. i have no idea why its freezing ive tried optimizing my game settings eg : sync every frame to off and all the special effects to no or off. I have detail on low, model textures on low everything on low yet no matter how i change the settings it still freezes, and it also freezes on the highest settings as well. ive tried different resolutions from 800 x 600 to 1280 x 1024 and nothing seems to fix this constant pain in the *** freezing problem.

I can be playing one minute and I get random lock ups /freezes my fps goes from white capped 125 to red 125. I thought my video card was stuffed so i bought a new card, yet still the same problem exsists. I thought ok its no the card maybe its a memory issue so agen i bought some new ram Kingston 2gbkit 800 speed, and still the problem remains unsolved. to be completely honest with you ive spent alot on this computer just trying to solve this gaming fps freezing issue im having. below are my computer specs

Motherboard : p31-ds3l

Case : antec 900

Mouse : G5 Laser Mouse

Keyboard : G15 Keyboard

Memory/Ram : Kingston2gbkit 800 speed

Graphics Card : EN9800GTX +DK = special edition of the 9800GTX

PSU : 550W Thermaltake

Hardrives : x2 180gb 1 terrabyte drive

CPU : E6550 2.33GHz

CPU Heatsink : Big Typhoon VX

any help would be greatly appreciated

Did you check gpu fan speed and make sure its not overheating? Also, check your cpu temps and see if your cpu is overheating or whatnot.
 
Tried the latest graphics drivers? Tried older drivers?

Make sure your hardware and fans and heatsinks are
blown out regularly to remove dust buildup..
 
I have a similar problem that i think may be the same thing. When it freezes, press either alt+tab or ctrl+alt+delete. It should change window or go to task manager, whichever method you chose.

If it does this, it is the same problem. My issue was a hard drive problem. Not trying to fix it, i formatted my hard drive, this was to try the windows 7 beta. A couple of days later, hating windows 7 (it is a pile of crap in all honesty compared to vista, even though it tries to imitate it) i put vista back on. I had no more freezeing issues and my system was ALOT faster, and i mean hugely noticeable

Yea on quite alot of stuff. I know it is beta, but i didn't like it still , probably because it is beta :P But i hope like hell they stop it being 99% vista, else we are looking the biggest con of all time
 
I like it much better than Vista. I takes half as long to boot up, the gui is nicer and I really like the new taskbar features, plus the fact that you can adjust UAC instead of just turning it off.

But it's a matter of opinion, and not what the topic is about. lol Sorry for the sidetrack.

checked all temps nothing is overheating. my cpu temp is soo low hint my cpu heatsink is really good and my gpu is not overheating either and nothing is overclocked all at default clock settings im either thinking i need more power or maybe i need to reinstall cod4 see if i still get the same problem. also i have tried the latest and i have rolled back drivers still the same problem still remains to be fixed >_< help help :(

before reinstall is your problem the same as mine (i posted above)?

If so, probably reinstall, but also go to your COD folder and then find all things with .sav as their file extension, you might want to back these up, make a note of the folder they are from and put em back when you've reinstalled, i didn't do that and unfortuantely lost my rank 55 and all my red and gold wepons :(
 
uhh i dont know but ill give it a guess it might be the g15 keyboard , dont belive ? in youtube search g15 problems, do other games do that?
