constant morpheus startup

Hi all...

Ive had the Morpheus music file sharing programme for a while now with no problems.
However now it starts up every 30 seconds all the time. Ive disabled the automatic start up feature on the programme but it still doesnt help.

Whats going on. I cant seem to shut this programme down no matter what i do. It is very frustrating.

Any advice appreciated

It sounds like other startups were created causing this. Some of these act like trojan downloaders. With this much trouble a total removal is the best move to get eveything back to norm. You may have to edit the system registry as well to clean things there. Did you use the add/remove in control panel to try removing it there?
 
That is due to the other startups it created. You're going to need a remover to get that stuff. Sometimes a normal boot can use something like the new Windows Defender after using the msconfig to untick all but video and sound. That will stop most normal items so they are out of the way. From there you run a few good removers like the MS Windows Defender, http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

A list of others like spysweeper. spybot: search+destroy and others can be found at: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html Make sure you go with the freewares not sharewares there however. Often once a shareware names what it finds you then have buy the full version to remove it. Some of these spywares act like viruses where AVG can be helpful in finding what files are infected or the source. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5 Don't be afraid to try a few different removers. They can be removed after if needed. If you are not experienced with registy editing a word of caution has to be advised here. The Majorgeeks link also carries HijackThis for posting what it finds in the registry. If none of the others works for some reason that would be the next step.
