Here is my new yearly build. I'd like suggestions and criticism. I'll be playing the latest games and storing lots of media.

Obviously my case decision doesn't matter. I am keeping my GTX 660ti until I feel the need to update, My 3 x 1tb hdd, and a 7.1 sound card.

Suggestions, comments, any feedback on why or why not to go with a different piece of hardware?

Looks like a powerful setup, are you sure you're going to be utilizing all of that power?

I would get a 4770K as opposed to just a 4770, just so you can overclock it if you like. Why not get some aftermarket cooling too whilst you're at it?

I think you should get this board since it is cheaper http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128594 unless there is any particular reason you want the ASUS?

Maybe look for some faster RAM? 1866MHz or 2133MHz as opposed to 1600MHz? Not a big deal, but might be worth seeing how much more it costs.

Otherwise, if you are sure you are going to use of all that power, it looks good. :good:

Thanks for the suggestions. I changed the 4770 to the 4770k, and I am looking at different motherboards. I'm about to leave work, so I'll browse more when I get back to the office at home. I found basically the same ram only at 2133 speed, for $40 more. So I went ahead and added that as well. Any suggestions on cooling? Is everyone still using the H100 series for cooling?

Yeah those Corsair liquid coolers are good. I know Noctua make some good air coolers if you'd prefer one of those, but I think I'd probably go for an 'all in one' liquid cooler since they are sometimes quieter and look a bit less bulky.

The other changes you made look good. I always tend to recommend the Z87X-OC board for the LGA 1150 platform. It's a good, solid board at a good price. :good:

Good to see another Jason on this forum btw. I'm called Jason too. ;)

id agree, an after market cooler definately.

depending on what you want something like an nzxt havik 140 air cooler or noctua dh14 will give the best cooling.

for closed loop all in one water cooling, something like a corsair h100i if you can fit that in your case, you may need to upgrade the case if you want, to mount it properly.

or maybe a smaller corsair cooler like a h60i which i believe will fit on a 140/120 exhaust.
