COMUTER S/N: 030590320425 (packard bell imedia 5050)
I am having big problems with my imedia 5050 pc, bought in November of 2003. The pc crashes whenever it feels like with no apparent pattern or continuous error message. The system has become more stable since buying, but still restarts every now and again. Have reinstalled windows a number of times from the recover facility, and this hasn't helped. Have updated the drivers if possible and this hasn't helpe either. I also wanted to upgrade the ram, and also see if it was the memory causing me problems. I bought a 512mb module of pc2700 and this wouldnt run (both together), crashes almost straight away, and wouldnt run with it in on its own. I next purchased a 256mb module of pc2700, the same as what is installed already (M-tec ram), and this will boot up fine with both in together, but will restart soon after windows boots. Will not boot to windows with the new 256mb in on its own.
Have removed SP2 from my pc, as i thought initially it may stop it, but poss made it worse so removed it. Back to square 1. No longer running norton, as this may have been casuing it, using Zonealarm now.
