i'm sick of this. nothing runs worth a flip, and i SWEAR it should be better.

ut2004 @ the LOWEST possible settings (EVERYTHING turned off) @ 640x480 doesn't even run smooth.. it's pathetic.

specs:

Epox 8KHA+
Athlon XP 2200+ @ 1.8ghz
1gb ram
ati x800xt PE
audigy 2 zs

Damn...

That is VERY weird. I suppose you have installed the latest drivers and the latest DirectX. Now, do you happen to have any programs running while you game (perhaps check it out in the Task Manager)? Your computer should have no problems whatsoever. Also make sure your processor is runnign at its 1.65 Volts and that your card has that extra power connector connected to it. It could not be getting enough juice to work properly.

okay, got something weird today. was booting for the first time of the day and i went to the bathroom. came back and had a blue screen ... hardware malfunction, system halted. rebooted and everything was fine. i don't know if these two problems are related, but it's an idea.

Did it give any error code at all...? If it was the graphics card then perhaps its faulty, try sending it back for a replacement, also, replace the RAM, dodgy RAM could easily cause these effects. Also, another thing, go into your BIOS and select the option to "load optimized defaults", this will put all the settings to maximum and get the most out of your current setup.

no error code... the blue screen looks like this:

*** Hardware Malfunction

Call your hardware vendor for support

*** The system has halted ***

I've tried running ut2004 on my system before and it ran like a total slug on minimum settings. I blame the engine. Forget ut2004 and get half life or something.
