Continuous Ink Supply

....Is this a company? I dn't know what exactly you're talking about.

Sorry for the confusion. No, this was not endorsing or implying any brand.

Continuous ink supplies (fairly large capacity canisters) feed ink to the printer via tubes which are attached to cartridges. They hold much more than individual cartridges, and cost substantially less.

As stated you wouldn't be doing this on a standard consumer grade unit.

If you simply need B/W, laser is generally cheaper for printing large volumes of documents.

I've got an HP Photosmart.

"As stated you wouldn't be doing this on a standard consumer grade unit." Help me out - who stated this?

So, why wouldn't one use this sort of ink supply in a standard consumer grade printer? That's my question!!!

Here are a few I've heard of:

-The ink is inferior quality to the ink from a replacement cartridge.
-They are prone to air locks
-They are big and you need somewhere to put them, where the won't fall
-They can be knocked over and spill, leaving stains that are nearly impossible remove!
-They sometimes interfere with the printer mechanism, particularly in the case of printers where the cartridge moves with the head.

I don't know how many of these are true, but these are the ones I've heard!
