Controller vs the keyboard & mouse

I've been playing Quake4 ever since it came out and I love the game and can't find anything to replace it. I have bought a dozen games since and I need to use my left hand to work the keyboard which takes the fun out for me. So instead of trying to type as I'm playing the new games how about a controller and what kind?

The best controller for the money for the PC is definitely the XBox 360 controller, plus it has the benefit of being very easy to setup in Windows.

+1 for the 360 controller. Just be sure to get the wired one for PC. Microsoft for some reason decided to change the firmware on the wireless controllers to make it so that you can't use it with the wireless adapter that you can buy.

x3 on the 360 controller. plus its nice if you've got friends with an xbox and you can just bring your controller.

Really, the only thing the controller is good for is [some] platformers and racing (or driving games) other than that, I prefer the keyboard and mouse.

Keyboard and mouse for everything, I hate chunky controllers.

But controllers for games like mario and smackdown vs raw.
