I bought the Sickleflow 120mm Blue Case Fan today and i was wondering if i could hook it up to my motherboard to control the fan speed until i get a fan controller? Or is that just not possible?

It is a standard 3 pin PWM fan plug, yes you can plug it into the motherboard and then use speedfan to control the fan speed:

I don't think that's a PWM fan (at least the page has no such mention). If it isn't, you won't be able to control it through software regardless of where you plug it in; you'll need a dedicated fan controller.

I got it to work 
Here's what i did for all those in a similar predicament.
I plugged the 3 pin connector into a special fan header for my Motherboard that supported speed control for one of the spots, (See your Motherboard Manual for details.)
Then using Speed Fan i was able to control the fan speed and LED's
Tips:
1.Make sure in speed fan in advanced that you set your fan# to software controlled
2.By Turning down the fan all the way I was able to completely turn off and on the fan and turn on the LED's. DO NOT PLAY WITH THIS!
