Convert CD's (install media and live cd's) to digital backup?

I have a bunch of Live Cd's and a few install CD's that if damaged, I won't be easily able to obtain another, like my recovery disc for my laptop, and I was wondering how to back them up onto my external hard drive. I'm sure there is a way, but I'm really busy and can't seem to figure it out. Help?

not sure what you mean, since most install things will have a downloadable version available!, all you will need is a key or serial number to activate it...
you could use imgburn to create an iso from the discs, not sure if this is what you want!!!
any media written on a cd unless copyright protected could be just copied off from the disc! things like recovery disc could be created again but instead of selecting the DVD you select a hard drive!! unfortunately you don;t seem to have windows 7, since you can download any version of W7 from digital river!!! other versions not sure!
