I have a 3.5 floppy that contains text MS Word that I want to save on my new Win 10 PC and copy to CD, this was save on my old XP desktop
I have taken it to a couple of computer shops to copy it but they only get a message that the disk needs formatting. I thought the files were all the same, has anyone got an explanation please

Floppies were never reliable data storage. I doubt you'll be able to pull any data off it. As they age, they get worse. I had a bunch and every so often would test them and throw away the ones that couldn't be read.

Sounds like the data got corrupted on that. Back in the day it was super easy to lose data off of a floppy. Accidentally set it on top of a speaker? RIP data.
