Cooler, Is the paste Ok?

I got my new cooler today and started to fit it...

I put it on and got 3 clips in and then noticed that the clips on the 4th leg were bent slightly, so I had to take it off to align them again.

But some of the paste had already stuck to the CPU and some to the heatsink, I then stuck the cooler back on...

Is this Ok, or should I of put some other paste on after taking it off, I hadn't turned the computer on though.

My temps are:

Idle:
Core 0: 32c
Core 1: 33c

Load:
Core 0: 46c
Core 1: 47c

Are these Ok?

You're fine, nothing to worry about.

I have a Scythe Infinity and I a getting 30C idle and 58C load (not core temps, they will be 3-4C higher). My E6300 is overclocked to 2.80GHz. To get your temps up, try running three instances of Prime95 (one using "blend", one "small fft" and one "large fft").

My results with the stock cooler on full:

Idle:
Core0: 35C
Core1: 32C

Full Load:
Core0: 47C
Core1: 45C

Bearing in mind the fan is on constantly here and yours will probably throttle as needed.

They're really good, you must have good airflow?

Well today I had a big re-arrange of the wires to force them to one side of the case so it was a bit neater in there. Air naturally flows in through the bottom and is ejected by 4 fans at the top.

Idle-
down to 28C

Almost all of the time (F@H)-
38C

My cooler helped immensely. You may want to reapply the paste. Keep in mind i am OCed to 2.4GHz.

Well, the paste I have is a no brand stuff and it's white. The stuff that came with the heatsinc, I'm assuming, is Arctic stuff, but not the silver 5.

Should I put some of my own stuff on, I feel this may make the temps worse?

maybe this is why your temps are not as good as you expected them to be with your new cooler...i would get some Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound and replace the white gunk:D

The paste needs to be applied perfectly, to get the best results. What happened with you wasn't "perfect" but nothing you should worry about.

I second the AS5, I've yet to try it but considering it's pure silver and has a high thermal conductivity, around 400W/mK, it's a no duh. :)

I would get some Arctic Silver, but it costs about £7 when you add postage costs... :(

Unless anybody has a small amount they are willing to sell?

Those temps are fine. Give it a few days to set, if you think it's still too high try cleaning it up and reapplying thermal paste. If your core temp readings go above 60 then it's a little hot but you've got a way to go before you get there.

You see, I would re-apply thermal paste, but the stuff I have is a no-name stuff and the stuff I'm using now came with the cooler, so you think I should leave it a couple of days?

Should the temps go down a little?
