Copy a codec?

I have some AVI's taken on an old digital camera. The camera software is installed on my own PC and I can view them using Windows Media Player. I want to take the files on a CD to show relatives on their PC but WMP cannot display them as it does not have the Codec.
Can I determine what codec is needed and copy it from my PC onto a floppy to take with me?
I dont want to install my camera software on their PC just for this, and they do not have internet connection so WMP cannot update itself.

since its .avi

its most likely a divx or xvid codec

u can get the divx codec here:
http://www.divxmovies.com/codec/

xvid:
http://www.xvidmovies.com/codec/

xvid might fit on a floppy, the divx will not so you need another source like a pen drive or cd possibly
