Copying DVD's

When I copy DVD's I copy the information to the hard drive, then put the blank disc in, then burn the info to the blank disc. That usually takes me around 40-45 mins.

How much of an increase of speed would I see if I bought anotehr DVD burner and burnt it directly from the DVD to the blank?

Basically, your time would be cut in half. That is called "on the fly" copying

Very nice.

Any good DVD burners that you could suggest for under 40-50 dollars?
I just bought a very good one (with lightscribe, if it matters) for $40

Here is a very good one, on sale, and with free shipping

You wouldnt need to buy another DVD recorder, you only need another dvd reader (dvd-rom). I use the rom to put the source in and the burner to burn it to a blank.

Correct, and you can get a good dvd-rom drive for $20.

But you could also be burning 2 DVDs at once from one original copy...

I just bought this DVD Burner too... I was amazed at the price for all that you get. And it has LightScribe, how cool is that!?

Well Lightscribe really isn't that great, it takes ages and costs a lot for the media, but yes it looks cool afterwards :)

I dont really want lightscribe, I find it incredibly pointless. I am still debating right now on whether to get anotehr DVD burner or DVD-ROM. I dont think I will be burning 2 DVD's at once.

I think I am just going to get another DVD-ROM drive.

Then again, DVD burners and readers are pretty cheap. Maybe I will just go with a DVD burner in case.
