Copying or downloading files onto a CD...Access Denied

When I try to copy or download a file from the Desktop onto a CD, a pop-window states:

Cannot create or replace "file.fileextension": Access is denied.

Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is currently not in use.

I made sure the file was NOT open, and the disk is certainly not full.

I took the CD and tried copying a file onto the CD on my laptop and everything worked fine, so it must be the computer I'm using. Operating system is Windows ME.

I think it could be a security setting on the computer regarding files.

Any ideas on what's wrong here?

If you dont have a CDRW drive, then you cant copy files to a CD. if you do have a CDRW drive however, then the problem could be that your trying to just copy and paste things to the CD like a floppy drive. Sometimes windows allows you to do something like that, but other times it gets messed up and you need to use a CD Burning program to put files on a cd.

is the cd blank? or have stuff on it already?

what approach are you taking to copying the files? dragging n dropping? copy and paste? or a program like nero?
