You most likely ran into a bad set of disks there or the drive you are using isn't able to write to the type of format the blanks are in. Here I've ran into problem where a sealed package of blank media found data already on what was supposed to be new and unused blank media. Time to try another brand. I've heard many complaints on Memorex brand dvd-rs and rws alike.

You bought the dvd "+" rw type media not the dvd "-" rw media. The burner you have probably can't write to the "+" media. You will have to go with the "-" instead apparently or until you change the drive itself for one that writes to all formats. I've been stiffed a few times on blank media. So I already know the words you can't say here. "&#%^&@*&^*&#*^*^@*&!!!!"

The HP Pavillion a610.uk is a discontinued model at this time so no specifications could be seen. The burner would be whatever HP was using at the time. If you go to an online vendor or into a retail store that sell computer hardwares look at the side of the carton and now you will see both with the "+" above the "-" in the space between the cd or dvd and the "r/rw" .[cd or dvd (space) r/rw] The old 2x, 6x, 10x 12x, 24, and some others only write to the "+" or the "-". The "-" is the closest to universal on most.

u can't burn pics directly to a dvd like you would a cd-r. (clicking and dragging into dvd folder). You have to put the pictures into an iso. which is an image file. an image file is like a 'virtual dvd' when you rip a dvd it is turned into an image file. the most common and easy to use is iso.

To turn these pics into an iso, you need a program like PowerISO which will create an iso image containing whatever data you put into it. it works pretty much like winrar or winzip, same kind of idea. once you have made the iso, you need a program to burn that iso to disc. the best ones are either daemon tools or Alcahol 120%. You can also use these to burn movie iso's.

once you have made the iso, stick it in Alcahol 120% and burn it! that simple!

Im not sure if all dvd-rw drives work this way. maybe some can burn pics and other non image files to dvd directly like a cd-r, but mine can't and this is the process i used and it worked beautifully! :)

Then you have never heard of a data dvd before. First any photos have to be scanned and saved to files stored on the drive. A good burning software will then create a disk image once the various files are added. With dvd-rws you can simply drag files onto them. Newer softwares even have direct burn.
