copying winXP CD

I made a copy of an old Windows XP CD and it seems to respond when I put it in the CD drive (the "Welcome to Microsoft Windows XP" screen comes up) but it doesn't respond on boot up when I leave it in the drive (i.e. it doesn't tell me to hit any key to boot from CD).

How can I make a copy of my original Windows XP CD so that the copy does exactly everything the original does?

Might want to consider burning at a slower speed because of smaller files. might be the color of the dye also. If the xp disc is gray buy gray a 3 pk and try. slower speed may be the fix though.

Ive used imgburn and iso. Honestly i don't recall burning windows as iso file. Ive made many copys for backup of windows and have installed before. Never the less i learned something. Maybe i should of my retail copy of windows 7 pro. At least its another option.

thanks

It's not necessary to create an ISO image first but you do need to make an image copy. You can't just copy the files.

Thanks everyone. I downloaded Nero and made a new copy. This one works.

Hey Strollin, did you help me out at computerforums.org

thats what i always used. The Nero Ultra i think is ver 9. What ever it won't work with windows 7 Pro 64 bit. Requires the newer ver so put on hold. Always liked it though.

I use my favorite NERO 6 to make the copies of any types of CD or DVD disks and it works perfectly even with Windows 7 lol.

I hate newest versions of NERO.It has so many things I don't need and that takes extra place on my HDD which is ALREADY very small hahaha.Only 160 GB xD xD xD

As for making the image files such as ISO,DAA and so on,I use Power ISO 4.0.But in 99% cases when I just want to make the EXACT copy of a disk,I just use Nero 6 for that.

Cheers to me!
I mean...everyone xD
