Core 2 Duo E6850 coming July 22nd

I CAN'T WAIT!!! Let me try to contain myself, the new Conroe is the E6850. A monster that outperforms all of the current Kentsfield CPU's, it runs 3.0Ghz at 1333Mhz FSB. $266USD is the projected price, not bad for what you are about to see.

The Slashgear page below says that the max FSB will be around 533~570 on air cooling, with a 9x Multiplier. So, look at this below,

1333/4=333.25 333.25*9=2999.25Mhz, as above, it is supposed to max a 533-570 FSB. 570*9=5130Mhz 5.13Ghz is the most you will see on air cooling. What a beast?

What do you guys think?

Cool! It's "just" a dual core though.. My only complaint:D

Well, go ahead and spend big money on the new Penryn architecture, I called my Intel insider. He said that they have found a new way to make the Conroe, therefore the lower price. He also said it might take a while for them to master the Penryn, just like the Conroe. I am getting one, I am 100% sure, this is by far, the best overclockability chip I have seen.

lol, i still have the P4 2.8Ghz HT... and it cost me $150 at that time! Man technology lowers fast! I need to look at those E4400 processors now =)

Looking at the thread in that article, they didn't get it close to 5Ghz. FSBs of over 500Mhz were only seen by reducing the multiplier to 7x. The fastest they managed to push it to was a touch over 4.3Ghz, and that wasn't with air cooling. Indeed, the fastest that the OP managed was 3.8Ghz.

At this point I'd personally lean towards the C2Q, but it does depend on what you'll be using it for, and I'll certainly wait until they've been released to compare results.

You cant compare a dual-core to a quad-core. Sure the dual-core processor will be better in most of todays games and apps, but once programs take advantage of multiple cores, the quad core will be far better.

im building a computer with a e6700 and i cant wait till the end of july

how much faster would it be then the e6700, i am gonna oc my processor

how much differnce does fsb make e6700 1066fsb and e6850 1333fsb???????????????

They are quad pumped so, 66.75Mhz difference. But imagine that on an OC, it really helps out.
