I know, read my post, still $785 is way under what intel is selling them for to businesses.
 
Those prices from Tigerdirect! On OEM! That's not really cheap concidering you need to supply the heatsink fan combo (+thermal paste). That could cost even more.

Usually, the HSF comes with pre-applied thermal paste, or comes with a little syringe.

I'm worried that when the time comes for me to buy Conroe, they aren't going to be in stock anywhere... Or, they'll take weeks to arrive. By which time, I will have left Texas and be back in UK. And that would be annoying...

Yes, exactly, that's why I'm saying it's not worth it to pay that kind of money for an OEM chip.
