Heya guys,

I have put together the Core 2 Duo rig I have:

Now, my problem:

After about 2 seconds from turning on, the PC shuts off, no beeps, nothing. The PSU has 36A on the 12V and the mobo should be fine. I suspect the power button or the graphics card. However, could be the RAM .. could be the PSU. What do you most likely lean to being the problem.

Board, power connections, examine case harness for unplugged power switch wire, reset, etc.. NO BBEEEPPS! can easily point at the first item. A bad cpu or memory would sound an alert of some type. A bad supply couldn't be ruled out. You could try a different one for a quick test.

Lol

Seems to have been the power button. I switched around the cables with the reset button and now it works by powering on the reset button. The case was expensive just if anyone thinks I bought a cheapo case.

hehe. I'm surprised. They don't usually (emphasis on usually of course) muck up. I'm glad you got it fixed. One for the books.

I figured you may a lifted or misplaced wire or two there. When first putting this one together the power switch somehow lifted right off of the block of pins. Upon turning the breaker on the drive lights would flask for a second and then nothing. Take a look inside... aww son of buzzard bait! Fortunately you escaped any factory defects of hardware there!

I have actually had 2 power buttons go bad on me...I don't know why, cause it isn't a common problem. Maybe it's just me

I guess you didn't notice that he said he was using the reset button for a power switch because the power button is defective...?

That wasn't what I was referring to there. A switch is far cheaper to replace then a supply or board even with the recent price drops seen on boards and supplies alike. Now all he has to do is email NZXT about their goof up! Otherwise that's one of the better made cases to look at.

Well, fair enough, but you did say factory defect of hardware. Last I looked a case was hardware...

Nonetheless, who cares? Still a pain in the butt to have to get it fixed. That sucks. :(

Gigabyte doesn't have to bad a product. But unlike Asus or MSI preferred here despite what someone else will jump in here and say otherwise they seem to lack a little on the online support. I will give Asus especially along with MSI a pat on the back for the way their support links are far easier to use. You can look up the model faster for driver updates, newer bios versions, download of the user's manual, and some utilities.

I definitely prefer the nForce 4 chipset over VIA or SIS. For a look at one review on that model go to http://www.bonafidereviews.com/article.php?id=87

Asus and MSI? Tech support? Not bloody likely. If you can't download, don't bother trying to reach them. They're about as much good as teats on a bull. Especially Asus. Their online documentation is pretty bad too. But I love them sooo much.. *sigh*
