Hi there. Can you tell me which processor is better Core 2 Quad q6600 or Core 2 Quad 8300? As i know Intel cores are based on cache memory and the q6600 has 8mb cache but is 65nm and the core speed is smaller then the Q8300... I have MSI P35 platinum motherboard and it supports the both FSB 1333 and 1066 which are the cores FSB... I wonder which processor from this two is better...? I ask you because i want to buy one of them...
Come on dudes. I need that info... Please

Out of the two I would chose the Q6600 if you overclock. If you leave at stock then I would still say the Q6600 is better for the 4mb extra cache.
Q8300 should be a great overclocker - unfortunately the rather low multiplier of 7.5 will limit the overclocking potential of the chip due to its normal 1333MHz FSB.

If you really want a 45nm one I wouldn't go any lower than a Q9450 as they are all around great chips and are fantastic overclockers. Because of that though the price stays high on them :P

I've been seeing used Q9450 or Q9550's go for around $150-160 now. The Q6600 and Q8x00 series are going for right around $90-110.

The Q6600 is OK, but runs quite hot if you don't have a really good heatsink.

I'd still recommend the Q8300. The 45nm process is architecturally better, and runs cooler. I would take a Q8300 at 3ghz over a Q6600 at ~3.2-3.4ghz (a realistic 24/7 overclock) anyday.

Probably really hard to find a used one, and new they are extremely overpriced.

A Q9400 is good too, it's in between the performance of a Q8300 and Q9550.

And just for reference, a Q9450 or Q9650 are the same thing as a Q9550 they just have different stock clock speeds.
