Core Clock what is the average

I was wondering what is the average core clock speed? I mean considering that I want to play Half Life 2//Doom 3//etc. at Ultra High or Highest Setting with low amount of FPS and Lag? Please help me >.<;;

can someone recommend me a Graphic Card for Playing The follow above games at highest settings without lag?

I DONT WANT TO BE SPENDING 2000 DOLLARS. IM THINKING SOMETHING LESS THAN $900!
 
Core clock isnt what matters in determining video card performance.

If you have a PCI-E x16 slot, and dont mind spending some money, then get the 8800GTS for $400 or the 8800GTX for $575.

by the way, what processor do you have?
