Core i5 Memory Support

I just want to confirm memory support for the new Core series processors:
Core i7 9xx: 1066MHz ddr3
Core i5 750 and 6xx: 1333MHz ddr3
I also heard that this has something to do with dual-channel vs Triple channel? Something like the LGA 1366 processors support triple channel and that the LGA 1156 processors support dual channel? I found some info on the frequency support here: http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/CS-029913.htm

The thing I want to know, though, is that If I have to overclock anything to get the ram to work with the i5 750. The ram doesn't have to be overclocked, since it's 1600MHz already, but I want to know if the i5 will support 1600MHz ram without any adjustments. Also, I'm still wondering if that RAM is supported by the motherboard I listed. It isn't listed on it's compatibility list, so I wasn't sure.

It depends on your motherboard. For instance if you buy a 1066MHz mobo and RAM is 1600MHz it will run at 1066MHz out of the box.

I read the reviews of the RAM I listed on Newegg, and one guy said that if you had a Core i5 750 you probably wouldn't be able to use it at 1600MHZ.

But that motherbaord says that it supports 1600 RAM without overclocking. The one I listed doesn't confirm that it doesn't need to overclock the CPU to support the RAM.

You don't need to overclock the CPU to get the RAM to run at it's spec speed, and as long as the slots are filled in pairs (1156), it will run in Dual Channel.

Running higher than 1066 isn't supported (socket 1366), but they will go much higher.

+1

My 920 is running at 1600 DDR3 and if you go onto Newegg and look at their 1366 motherboards - you'll see many of them support 1600 and some up to 2000 on overclock. the DDR3 1600 Ram needed to be set in the bios to get to 1600 though - it defaulted to the lower setting prior to adjusting the timing.

That guy is just an idiot. Take reviews on newegg very lightly.

I have two different set of ddr3. I have G.Skill Trident ddr3-2000, and OCZ 1600 and they both run at rated specs with my I5 750. That guy simply didn't have a motherboard that supported more than 1333 without overclocking.
