core i7 2700k vs fx 8150

Lol sorry if i sound like a moron, but i thought the 2700k was better for gaming since no games were optimized for CMT, and almost nothing would put 8 cores to good use. Also the bsod's i was getting on several AMD branded games was driving me nuts. It was well documented that the 8150 would bsod with a CHV with games such as saints row 3, deus ex, shogun, etc.

the only difference you're going to really notice will be the lack of those bsod's, you might bet higher frames, but they should already have been so high you can't tell any difference.

Yeah performance isnt the issue, the compatibility problems are. Spent way too much money on games for the pc to just crash like that

You are concerned that the 8150 wouldn't be put to full use because no game uses the technology or 4 cores, yet you got a 2600k over a 2500k, because hyperthreading makes all the difference?

You have just blown away a lot of money for 0 extra performance gain, you should have got a 2500k instead of the 2600.

Furthermore, you have used the 8150, you now have a 2600k, so what is the point in making the thread? Find out for yourself which games better by gaming, you will notice ~0 noticeable performance difference

Once again i really bought this 2700k for compatability purposes, several amd branded games would bsod on the fx 8150. I apologize if i created a unnecessary thread, all i was looking is for some opinions .

2500k is the best gaming CPU of all time up to this date. HT does not help at all if you have a quad core, in fact the 2500k has been shown to get higher frames (only 1-2 but still) than a 2600k.

The general opinion will be that you have bought something you don't need in the i7, because the i5 would have been more than fit for purpose.

It is like buying a Ferrari for doing the school run, it may be quicker than your normal family car, but it won't get you there any quicker, it will just cost you more
