Hi,

I'm looking into two computers. but one with core i7 6gb ram and the other with core i5 8gb ram. Other specs are the same.

Which one will be the best for general use? I do a lot o image processing though.

The core i7 is $100 more. Upgrade the i7 to 8gb is not an option right away due to warranty issues.

Thanks.

It's going to be cheaper to build it yourself and about as easy as a lego set. Don't worry about parts. If you post a thread with budget and use of build people can get a parts list for you.

As for those two, the i5 makes more sense, but again, building trumps both options in every aspect. I'm pretty sure a simple installation of a few RAM sticks will not void warranty, but not sure.

although what your are using it for would be helpful to decide.

and building is better, and we make an excellent tech support, way better than any company, plus the parts we recomend all come from good companies with some of the best support so once we solve what it is and possible fixes, if need be they can help with getting it repaired or replaced.

Thanks for the answers. Very reasonable.

Will checking for memory upgrade. I'm mostly worried for realiability, since i live overseas and buying in USA.

I do like the Alienware slim desktops. I know that the price you pay is most for the brand. But are they more realiable? What should i expect? Maybe is worth start a thread on that one...

Thanks.

Alienware is just Dell at it's core. So that tells you they're not fantasic. Not horrible, but much better quality and price for building on your own.

If you don't mind telling us, where do you live (country is enough).

A lot of the members are here are from various parts of the world and know which stores to use from different places.
