Core i7-990X confirmed

LGA1366 EEs are still going to be Intel's flagship line until Ivy Bridge, I reckon. Though performance with the $200 i5-2500K is so awesome when overclocked I don't know if LGA1366 will survive the launch of Sandy Bridge
Yeah, with the raw speed of the 2600k and 2500k, there's no way anyone will want to pay 3 times as much for a 990x unless they have a program that takes advantage of 12 threads. Go Intel for making an affordable CPU that epically PWNS!!!!!!:D

:good: !!!

Plus it's just a speed bump over the 980X, who would want a 990X over one of them<?>

The CPU world is getting interesting. A new year, a new decade, for new battles of benchmarking, aging architecture of old CPU's, and price-performance wars :D

How much are they going for? Just curious, cause I figured it came out around the time AMD released their 1100t's, as a reaction to their competition. Never did hear what the market specs would be though.

How costly is it? 1200$ ?
Maybe its turbo boost touches 3.9 compared to 2600K's 3.8 .

i7-2600K is 317$ and 2600 is 294$ with same specs, not sure whats the difference between them. I think 2600K is for overclockers.

I wonder though new decade but will we see in 2020 the diffrence from today's CPU's we see comparing our CPu's to a Pentium3 733 or Athlon 750?

Around $320 is a pretty good price for the Core i7 2600K Quad-Core Processor. It is a 95 Watt processor.

Intel says it uses DDR3 1066/1333. So DDR3 1600 memory will not increase performance on a system using the Core i7 2600K?

So... it's just a 980X, but higher bin? Meh
You have to remember, though: it's not really supposed to be compared with a 980x. It should be compared with something like an i7 950. For example: The i5 750 is slower than my C2Q Q9650, but it's a lot cheaper, and takes advantage of Nehalem's architecture tweaks.

Intel says that for pretty much all it's CPUs. It will, you'll just need to set the memory to run a 1600MHz, the CPU will set it to 1333 by default
