Core i7 for $1000

Is it possible to build a good i7 system for a grand? I already have a case lined up which is an antec 900 2. Ill reuse my gts250 gpu for awhile and i have a corsair 550 watt psu. I also have a monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, harddrive and cd drives from my prebuilt gateway. So ill need the i7 920 cpu, a good motherboard for oc'ing and gaming, atleast 8gb of ram and other odds and ends im forgetting.

Seeing as you have an nvidia GPU, go with either the bloodrage GTI or the Flamingblade (non GTI). The Bloodrage/Bloodrage GTI both support SLI+crossfire, the Flamingblade also supports SLI and Crossfire, while the Flamingblade GTI supports crossfire only.

ya i just read that when i searched for it about the flamingblade gti. ill go with the bloodrage and that ram you suggested

do i need the extra height? the bloodrage added cash i didnt wanna sepnd so another 20 adds up lol. in the end i plan on havin a gtx295, a large hd for movies and so on, a small but very fast hard drive for games, a temp readout on the front of the case, 1 cd/dvd drive, and a an all in one media reader. wouldnt a 900 be big enough?

Well, the Twelve hundred has more airflow, and you gotta think that that readout will take 3 bays, which is an entire 120mm fan to begin with. Basically its whether or not you want the added space to work with and airflow.

i think im gonna go ahead and get the antec 1200. i watched and read a few reviews and its got alot goin for it. Its huge man lol

well i hit a hickup. the 1200 is 160+25 bucks shipping. thats 185. the 900 is 140 with free shipping. all newegg. thats pricey

ya sucky thing is i want to buy from newegg cause my credit card takes like a week to get verified and i dont have amazon. so i might get the 900. also just measured where i put my case and a 1200 is wayyyyyy too big

Well, when you say put your case, are you putting it in an enclosed thing of some sort? Id recommend against that with a higher performance rig like this, as it needs cool air coming and going...

no under my desk its wide open. BUT the front of the desk to the wall is only 16 inches and the antec 1200 is like 22. It stickin out 6 inches would no work well. Its kinda hard to explain. Plus 170 is alil more than i wanna spend. Im tryin to keep this all within a budget. I think ill be happy with the 900. If not its all my fault.

Just incase you dont know, the twelve hundred is the same size as a nine hundred two, just about 4.5"(and 3 drive bays) not as tall;)
