Core Unlocker and AMD Phenome II X4

no you don't have any locked cores. amd just disabled a core on some of their processors and evidently that motherboard can unlock the disabled cores. it is a cheaper way for amd to release more cpus at a lower price without having to actually build more cpus. you could look into buying a tri-core and use that feature to unlock the extra core.

For the 965, the core unlocker feature will do nothing nothing. that feature is for the Phenom ll x2's and x3's that are quad cores but have the third or fourth core locked. The 965 does not have any hidden cores to unlock. Good choice on the processor, It performs really well. :D

@ThatBosnianDude

All of the Phenom ll should have cores to unlock. But it is a gamble if you can unlock them or not. I would not take that chance if you were hoping to get a high performance quad core out of a dual core. I would consider it a bonus if you can unlock an extra core.,

Do all tri-cores have an extra core or is it a gamble?

you'll just have to do some searching (if no one recommends any) with google. beware: not all tri-cores that are confirmed quad-cores will unlock! sometimes amd will sell a quad-core with a defective fourth core as a tri-core, which means you will be stuck with a tri-core. so yes, it is a gamble :rolleyes:
