someone did a thread like this a while back. but i want current thoughts.

anyway, the price difference between the:

E6750

and the

E6850

is about $100.

according to tomshardware.com the performance is pretty similar.

so would it be worth it to go the 6850? or not.

ALSO, would i be better to get the Q6600 seeing as its about the same price as the E6850?

thanks

well now i know about them i might lol.

will the price of the E6850drop once the Yorkfields are out?

Yeah, I'd wait and then go Quad. I'm over on the AMD side of things--and very happy with my X64 FX62 @ 3.0GHz, by the way--and I plan on waiting until AMD's Phenom processors get fixed before I go that way. A good rule of thumb is to wait for a few revisions before moving into the new tech.

Want an example? Early adopters of the 8800GTX and Ultra GPUs are now watching their rigs get pounded into oblivion by the new G92'd 8800GTs, which cost about half as much.

so i shall wait till january then?

im not really in that much of a rush. is there anything expected later than that?

it will take me a while to get some money

ok. while im here, can i ask what is a Xeon processor?

and how are they different from a core2duo or whatever?

i have never understood them lol.
