recently came to know about i5.which is the best core2quad Q9400(2.66g) or i5 quad core(2.66g).wat is the difference between these two.

I5 hands down.

I5 is the superior to the C2Q series and for the price you can build the same computer for nearly the same price. DDR2 is as expensive as DDR3 and I5 boards can go as low as $100.

I agree. The Intel Core i5 750 Lynnfield is a better processor than the Core 2 Quad Q9400. If I were faced with the choice between the two I would go with the Core i5 750 processor.

Core I5 without a doubt,Like ive said to people many times...the SKT LGA 775 processors is dead now.

Sorry to thread hijack, but what about between the I5 or E8500? I have been wondering which to get out of those 3 haha. Cheers.

2 cores vs 4 cores = E8500 is at its end and shouldn't be bought. For the price once again a Phenom II would be cheaper (quad would win again).

I5 is superior and with the unusual price of items currently its in the same budget bracket.

Sheesh, the Core 2 Duo E8500 Processor is still $190 and the Core 2 Duo E8400 is at $168.

Phenom II 550 Dual-Core Processor has about the same processing power and is currently priced at $102.

I can't believe people would pay so much for the Core 2 Duo E8400 and E8500 Processors when they could have DDR3 memory and a Phenom II for a lower price.

I'm waiting for the core 2 quads to come down in price personally. I have a core 2 duo right now, and I don't want a new mobo/ram yet

i5 is better. socket 1156 was made to finally kill off socket 775, but heaps of people still use it... most people can't exactly upgrade as soon as something comes out.

Not really, Phenom II 550 performs more like E7500

Even so, the Core 2 Duo E8400 is not worth $64 more dollars than the Phenom II 550 Dual-Core Processor. For $166 you could get a Phenom II 945 Quad-Core Processor which beats the Core 2 Duo E8500 or E8400 Processors.

The Core 2 Duo E8500 or E8400 Processors are not worth the prices they are presently at. I think the Core 2 Duo E8500 is worth around $125.
