Corei5 stock cooler...

We like the way he said it more.

Point is I find stock coolers suck on stock speeds and voltages. They just make wonderful paper weights or "I hate you" gifts.

Stock coolers does suck after all... No doubts about that. I think they are just there so that you can run it once to check if everything is okay lol..

He is just tea bagging you with the truth.

Stock has always sucked period. There has never been stock that I have owned that even ran stock speeds all that great and its never going to change. Even Intel fails in the stock arena its a fact of life.
I about died laughing at my I5 stock....even it ran rather hot idle. I blame the push pins for part of it...they suck and Intel knows it. Id rather save $30 and just get the CPU.
Well, the AMD stock coolers arent half bad actually, the chips themselves produce less heat than intel chips, and the heatsink is a good 3x larger, ive overclocked tri cores to ~3.2 or so on stock voltages with stock hsf and wasnt in the danger zone for temps under LinX. However, the intel cooler is pretty pathetic, it keeps getting smaller and smaller. The stock cooler they are including with the 980X is actually pretty impressive though, not amazing, but in the running with one of noctua's 120mm coolers from a review i read on it.

thanks gabe for completely sandbagging me. I was trying to make a point. For a stock cooler the i7's cooler WAS impressive. The new stock cooler looks great too. Remember we never forgot there are people in this world who don't use their comps for gaming, don't overclock, and don't fiddle with their components then they dont need an aftermarket cooler, but if they want one it will lower the temps.... THAT why yell? is what stock coolers are for

The problem is not one of your points were in dispute. They also suggested we could not think of items that most of us easily can.

Yes, the OP should not expect to OC .8 a stock cooler but we can help offer suggestions instead of preaching to him. You post was over the top, thats all.

"whoa whoa guys. before we start bashing intel lets go over a couple of things

1. intel cpu's are the best in the world with the best features, best speeds, best stability, everything

2. the i7 stock cooler is top notch. intel can't give away aftermarket heatsinks for free. they need to make a profit and frankly giving away high quality coolers would drive up the cpu prices.

3. fear not. linus tech tips from youtube (yes he is annoying and his voice is disgustingly high pitched) shows off the NEW intel stock heatsink. from what I see it looks great and could be a good solution. but remember, most gamers and oc'ers don't use stock heatsinks anyway "

What cooler do you have on your I5 to stay under 65c at 4.2ghz? My I5 750 with a TRUE would get to right around 80c with a TRUE at 4.2ghz.

There's nothing wrong with 80c core temp, I believe I read somewhere that nothing damaging is done until atleast 105c.

This cooler here is really good for the money-

lol its just a xigmatek s-1283. idk what you guys are doing wrong, but your temps are way too high. these are relatively cool chips, it runs about the same temp per mhz that my e8400 did with the exact same cooler.
