correct order to connect h/d & c/d rom

Please can someone tell me how to connect h/d & c/d rom...
I have a p2 connector on its own.
I have a line with 2 connectors p3 & p4.
I have try a few combinations but i still keep getting error
no h/d connected,even though i can still run windws normaly..
The setting i think is the correct way is p2 to cd rom,& p4 to h/d which is set to master.......

Has nothing to do with your power connectors, its the drive jumper or where you have it on the ide cable.

You have an IDE cable that has 3 connectors on it. The one by itself goes to the motherboard and the other end has 2 connectors close to one another. Make sure the hard drive is labeled as master and put it on the last connector, set the cdrom to slave and put it on the middle connector.
