Correct way to shut down laptop

My wife has a Aspire One D255E net book. Need to know what is the proper way to shut it down at night. It gives the following options: Logoff-Lock-Restart-Sleep and Hibernate.

At night the unit is 100% fully charged. How should I shut the computer off at night? Should I unplug the computer and close it? Should I put in the Sleep or Hibernate mode? Thanks for your input!!

If this is windows 7, the shutdown option is next to the arrow that bring up the other options. You have to click it as its hard to navigate with arrow keys. It was much easier in vista.

Im going to assume its similar if not the same to home editions.

Click the windows button on the task bar, on the bottom of the start up menu, on the left there is the words shutdown, just click that. The arrow pulls up the other options, but to properly switch it of just click the shutdown button.

(As i said i assume its the same as the OS i use, if not disregard this advice and think of it as a total fail :P)

If it's Windows 7, I'm guessing it is, you need to follow mikeb2817's advice, Windows 7 kinda messed things up compared to other Windows OS.

You can follow an alternative way to shutdown:
Press "Windows" key from your keyboard and tap "U" twice. I hope it will work for you. Just try it.

anyoing that you have to click that to shutdown it took me 10mins to work out how to shut down the PC

much easier in XP and Vista
