Corrupted CD?

Hi there everyone,

I left my job a few months ago, and backed up all my personal folders from my work computer to four CD's.

I double checked each CD after I had burnt it to make sure all the files had copied correctly before I deleted the files on my computer.

Lone and behold, I look at the CD's this month, and on some all the files have gone, and on others only half or less are missing. At first I held onto the slightest hope it might be that my old com used xp and my new one uses Vista, but after trying the CD's on another computer, it seems no hope is left : (

The CD's don't have any scratches or dirt, although it is only one brand of CD that seems to be missing data. The weird thing is that the CD size is what it should be, but the combined size of all the folders is significantly less.

Does this mean the files are somewhere on the CD still? If not, how did the CD get corrupted in the first place?

As you can probably tell I'm a bit of a novice, so any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

PS. For once I am glad I posted most of my pics on facebook!!! At least I still have them, albeit low quality versions.

It is possible that it is not showing hidden files and folders and for some reason some of yours might be hidden. Do you know how to check and see if its displaying hidden files and folders?

Hi guys,

Thanks for your replies.

I have checked the properties of all the folder's on the cd and none of them have 'hidden' checked.

I have also tried using the suggested program and it only copies the folders that I can see have stuff in them.

Any other suggestions? Seems to weird the folders were all copied but just some are full and some are empty!?

Anything you could suggest would be appreciated.
