corsair vs crucial

Well...its not 0 fps difference, but its like 2-3 FPS. But yea, very negligible increases in performance due to increased memory speed...id stick with supported speeds of the memory controller with tighter timings... high speed ram is snakeoil...offers diminishing returns for how much you spend.

When the CPU or GPU is holding you back, not the memory, you could clock it as high as you like and change the timings however you like, it won't make a difference because you have not changed the limiting factor.

The second bit I whole-heartedly agree with.

Yea, typically the only times you will get those kinda returns is with AMD APU's with the high speed ram, as they require system memory to be used. But your better off spending money on dedicated graphics if you are going to be trying to push memory speeds..

I personally prefer Crucial because they're the only RAM company that manufactures some of their memory chips in the U.S. It varies, though, and they still have factories all over the place. When it comes down to it, though, their modules are about the same quality as Corsair/Kingston/GSkill/Adata/etc. A lot of the companies use memory chips from companies such as Samsung, Hynix, or Micron (Crucial's parent company) anyway. Nonetheless, even my crappy-looking "Nanya" brand modules that I pulled from a couple of old Dell Optiplexes have been running fine for me OC'd to 853MHz.
