Could I do this?

Could I hook an Internal Hard Drive up to my main computer, download the OS to it, take it out, then put it in the new computer and run the OS?

Simple answer is NO... Many reasons why that won't work.

1. Drive wouldn't be bootable
2. New computer has different hardware and won't boot into windows anyway.
3. Windows would have to be reactivated and that would be illegal on a new machine that has the same license on a different computer.

You didn't say that in your original post. Unless i don't understand what you are trying to accomplish, maybe explain exactly what you want to do.

You always have to install the OS while the drive is attached to the system its gonna be used in.

All the hardware drivers will be differant. I have put an old hd in a pc and it amazingly booted up in xp once , but its not recomended as it did load all the wrong drivers

Oh... because It's hard for me to do this, I'm going to try and just order the Ubuntu disc... my internet is only running at 60kbps so downloading it is a pain and the computer I'm putting it on only has a cd-r not dvd-r so my only other option is a jump drive so I guess I'll just have to use that.

May I ask: are you downloading the OS through an Internet browser or through P2P? At least from personal experience, the P2P download goes faster in my connection. From what I could tell, OS's like Ubuntu have the option of being downloaded P2P.

How do I torrent it? This is the first time I've done it but I downloaded BitTorrent but when I click on the link it downloads it using google chromes downloader. How do I make it download in BitTorrent?

Yeah.... BitTorrent said 2weeks 5days.... so thats a no-go from the parents.... But now I started the download in my browser again and it only says 4 hours now! So I'm content with 4 hours. (Unless my Piece-O-Crap Internet doesn't disconnect again....)

When you started downloading in BitTorrent, did you leave it at least two minutes? It usually takes that long to go down from weeks to hours.

What type of Internet connection are you using? Ubuntu usually takes 20 minutes to download through a browser (the ISO file), at least in my connection.

It is Cricket Wireless..... Its just Loads-O-Fail and it only runs at about 60Kbps. We're getting Comcast installed at the moment so it won't be long until I'm through with this but until this I have to deal with it.

Good to hear you're getting Comcast installed. You will be pleased when it is.

The download just abruptly finished at 190ish MB, It seems to do this alot with downloads.... do you know why this would happen?

According to what you have said to me, your Internet connection seems to disconnect at times. The download abruptly finishes when your computer looses Internet connection. Since it is an ISO file (from my experience, it tends to happen with larger files), if it stops downloading, the file download terminates. You don't know how many times this has happened to me.

Although, if it always abruptly finishes at 190-ish MB, then it may be a problem with the file/etc.

EDIT: The Internet connection can be lost even if you don't notice or get notified.

Well, when it disconnects a big box comes up from the bottom right of the screen saying that Cricket Wireless has Disconnected and that didn't happen... so I'm not sure why it happened. It's not always at 190ish MB it can be at any point in any download... It's happened about 5 times with different downloads.

I'm not sure what to tell you then. I'd still say it's most likely your Internet connection, but it can also be any other thing. All the times that it has failed, have you used the same browser (e.g. always Chrome, Firefox, etc.)?
