currently my computer has a : Athlon 64 2800
cheap AGP video card
and 512 kingston ddr 400

could i get it to play games moderately well for under $200, maybe adding more ram and getting a better video card?

i'd like it to be able to play some next gen games like oblivion when it comes out, i just didn't know i fi would be better off by ing the xbox 360 or upgradign my comp.

Is this DDR or SDRAM? If its ddr what speed is it? I would suggest(if its DDR, and less then 400) upgrading to DDR400(That is if its suported)and 1GIG of it, you can do this with less then 100$'s easy, and then there is 100$'s(prabally much more) for a video card. Not sure what i would sugest getting because im not up to date with the differernt video cards.

but you should be able to make it play new games with 200$'s of upgradeing, and that is the only two things you should have to upgrade...

what would you reccomend i get i was think ing of an extra 512 megs of ram, but what video card would you reccomend?

Yeah it's ddr 400 it says so in the original post...

Yeah, I totaly didn;t see that im dumb, so just get another 512MB stick like your other post says, then then see what otehr peopel say for video card.

you dont particulaly need more ram, 512 is enough for most games, but if you want a bit more try going to a computer fair, i got a stick of 256mb for about £10

or, for a bit more, he could get a stick of 512MB
you dont particulaly need more ram
while this may be true for some games, others will run jerky without a little ram upgrade.

for the video card, 6600GT would be the best option

going from 512mb to 1gb of ddr400 madea HUGE differnence when playing FarCry, with 512 it waS fairly laggy, with 1gb, no lag and higer settings!
