I'm a noob so I have no idea how to check :S I put it in and it won't work so... I'm just wondering if it is either incompatible or... I need a better power supply.

Should work fine. But like you say it depends on your power supply. Did you plug in the 6 pin power connector?

Dont guess you have another computer or a friends you could try it out on to make sure the cards good to narrow it down? And what brand and model P/S do you have?

I have an optimax titan power atx-450ps
is that good enough?

- i don't have another computer in the house i could try it with. and i don't think my friends want their computers opened up lol

Yea, 700 is enough, alittle over kill but it still matters what brand. OCZ- Antec- PC Power&Cooling- Corsair- FSP and Silverstone all make good models
