If theres enough clearance between the case of the PSU and the PSU's innards then i cant see a problem with it, just take the case of PSU off before drilling obviously, just one tiny metal filing inside the PSU will cause death (of the PSU... not you...)

This is a fairly common PSU mod as usually it can get VERY hot indeed and become a major contributor to overall system heat.

Just make sure it's sucking in, as the other fan on the PSU will be blowing out, and if you have two fans blowing out of the PSU, it won't be much help, and will increase the temperature of your case!
 
not exactly if the PSU is being cross vented. Also, some PSU's I have seen are built to where the top and 2 sides come off. If yours is built that way then I would suggest taking it off first and then cutting holes in ti
