could "modified" software have virus?

I downloaded a software from a trusted and official server, and then I downloaded some small files from an untrusted server which were used to "modify" the software, the small files are in DLL format which were assigned to replace the original DLL under the program directory. I did it and the program is "modified" nicely. However, I would like to know if there could be any virus or hidden risks in my situation. Is it likely that for DLL format files to contain harmful virus or any other bad things

Sounds like you downloaded a crack for the genuine software you downloaded. We don't support stuff like that on this forum.
