could not locate application config file?

Hi, recently i attempted to use the backup feature on my laptop to go back to a restore point. Not sure if it worked completely properly but seemed to recover some things.

But now when i load up windows an error message comes up saying 'could not locate application configuration file'. Im not sure what program this is referring to or how to find out.

It doesnt seem to affect anything that ive noticed but would like to work out how to fix it.

Any tips?

It might be a missing or corrupt startup entry. What version of windows are you running?

Either way you'll want to run the msconfig utility and check what's in the startup tab. If you've done a system restore it's likely messed up some auto-startup program.

check your msconfig startup applications and disabling everything and then re enabling them to pin point which program it is.... that is if you cant make a guess as to which one it is by noticing which programs in that list arent running
