hi i am going to buy some powerline ethernet adapters that plug in to the mains.is this how it would work: i take the ethernet cable from the back of my pc and put it into the back of the cable router, then i put a second ethernet cable into one of the four spare connections on the back of the router and connect the other end to the powerline adapter.then once the pc has been moved to its new location connect a third ethernet cable to the pc and the other end to a second powerline adapter.is this correct nd will this give me internet connection without any problems???
thankyou in advance

That's what the back of the box says. Almost everyone I know who has used it has had some troubles. It works best when the outlets are on the same circuits and in some cases won't work at all depending on your wiring. Quite honestly wireless is a better choice and no more expensive.

Another issue I've heard of is spikes in performance. If, for example, you turn on a power hungry appliance which generates lots of noise on the power lines (say a sweeper) your speeds will drop dramatically. The fewer appliances you have on the circuit and the shorter the distance the better your performance will be. I've often considered trying power line networking but it's more expensive than wireless in some cases and i haven't heard much of anything good about it. If you've only got a 1.5 or 3mb internet connection to share and aren't planning on moving any big files around it should be able to handle that provided your wiring will work with it.
