what exactly does ram do for u?
(i have 256 ram is that enough?)

what does a processor do you?
(im ashamed to say this but i have a pentium II) which i know is bad cuz like pentium centron is out or something like that i dont know much about computers :mad: (i know!!! i just want a computer that will let me play games, get on aim, browse the web and listen to my music!!)
 
Cpu is the brain of the computer...

Memory allows yoyur computer to run mutliple programs smoothly... Like the grease in the machine. Not enough memory, slow moving machine.

Today 1gb (4x what you have) is enough for the average user.


Do you plan on buying a prebuilt pc? or trying to build your own?
 
so 1 gig of ram is what most computers have?
also what about games is that why my games run really slow?

oh and i want to build on a prebuilt pc like make it better
 
PC's have a range of RAM sizes, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB etc. RAM is made of circuitboards that are easily swapped around / added / taken away. For games to run smoothly, a combination of CPU and graphics card performance is needed, RAM is important to allow the game to run at all, but once it runs, the speed or framerate is down to the graphics card primarily then cpu.

You could always have a look through the RAM101, see what you can take in before it gets too 'tekky'.
