Could You Get On The Internet On A Windows 95?

I know 98 you could. I don't remember seeing the internet on windows 95 but I did read something about it was Internet Explorer 1 which was not very good. If you could get on internet on a windows 95 then what was the first computer with the internet on? Before 95 was NT 3.0, 2.5, 2.0 and 1.0 as early as 1985.

Yea! it possible to get on the internet with Windows 95, I have done it in the past..you would need an add on called Windows 95 Plus...as for a browser you can use IE 6 or an older version of either netscape or firefox..

Yes you could - later versions of 95 had IE4 bundled with them, my copy of 95 (OSR 2.5) did.

I'm typing this reply from a VM running Win 95. The only "modern" browser I found that would work in Win 95 without crashing is Opera. The most recent version of Opera wouldn't work but I am running version 8.52 and it runs pretty decently. Couldn't find any version of IE or FireFox that would run without crashing.

You could get online in any version of Windows and could even get online in DOS. Going online predates the internet. Going online generally meant logging in to a text based BBS. There were browsers available for Windows 3.1 to access the WWW but IE wasn't introduced until the Micorsoft Plus! add-on for Win 95.
