Counter Strike Source Steam??

Hey Im not a huge gamer...but my friend told me recently to buy Counter Strike Source so we could play online...he has it and is very satisfied with it...anyways...I read somewhere that steam is required to play CS Source? What is steam? I know its sort of an account for online gaming I guess?? But does it come with the game when you buy it or do you have to buy it seperately? I want to be able to play Counter Strike Source with my friends...so all I do is go to circuit city and buy Counter Strike Source? or do I have to buy Steam in addition to that

thanks in advance...im not a huge fps fan...i mostly play strategy and nba...only because I always get my ass kicked in fps games...lol

no, you don't have to buy steam seperately.

I find the easiest thing to do is download steam (from the link about this post), and download games directly from steam. That way you dont have to worry about shipping, or any other charges.

Also with steam, you dont have to worry about your games getting lost since you can redownload them anytime you want, on any computer you want.

Also, games are generally cheaper on Steam. For example, if you're buying Counter Strike: Source, it's $20 on Steam and $30 at Wal-Mart..
 
Yea I noticed that...thanks...last question...do a lot of people still play counter strike source? since half life 2 is out?

Yes. CS:S is a very popular game, and there's a good chance if you start to play it you'll understand why, too.
 
ok i promise LAST QUESTIONS LOL....CS Source is a game by itself right? I don't have to have half life 1 or half life 2 or anything rite? and what are the graphics requirements? Its still gonna be two weeks before i get my 7600GS...will my integrated ATI Radeon X200 256MB Shared graphics card play this?

Yes, it is a game of its own. Buy CS:S, and you're good to go.

To say the least, you'll be a lot happier when your 7600GS comes :P

Thanks Im ordering as we speak....So itll just download directly to my computer? thats nice....not having to go to the door for the ups man or drive my ass down to wal mart...hey i really appreciate it guys..thanks for helping out a newbie

Yup, just go to www.steampowered.com and download it and update it. But first you'll have to be able to set up an account. Have you already done that. The person owning the cd key has to be 18 or older to register for it. I think it also ask for your b-day. Also, sometime steam has update now and off. You will need to require those updates. They are very important to steam.

When you first start playing. Find out who your enemys are? Enemies always dress weird. and the good guys are the counter terroist. Choose a team and look at what team is what. I'll send you a picture later.
 
thanks yeah i just started playing last night...we used to play cs 1.0 back in the day in our banking class....its pretty much the same thign except upgraded here and there...i remember the students getting pissed at us cuz wed jam up the network printer lol
